If you find yourself in sunny Carliornia you might want to hop into RIPO’s solo exhibition at White Walls Project Space in San Francisco. In Cut from the Chase RIPO shows twenty new works on paper, an exploration of wordplay and typography using ink, spray-paint, watercolors and 1-shot enamel on hand cut paper.

“Handmade signage, calligraphy, and graffiti are obvious influences in Cut from the Chase, though the finished pieces are a new take on lettering. Through careful repetitions of cutting and layering many of the pieces begin to enter into a nearly sculptural field.”

About RIPO:
Born and raised in NYC, Max Rippon left for Barcelona in 2005, where he has since dedicated himself to painting and creating artwork both in the streets and the studio. In recent years his work has become primarily text-based, exploring typography, calligraphy and other hand-painted elements with a sense of humor that underlies much of the work. The artist has brought his work to over 36 countries across the world and has been invited to participate in numerous solo and group exhibitions in prestigious cities including Barcelona, Vienna, Mexico City, Sao Paulo, London, Basel, and New York.
